Started with a question no spec sheet answered
Every mobility scooter listing promises the same thing: long range, smooth ride, rugged build. But “outdoor rated” means something different on a manicured park path than it does on a gravel shoulder with no curb cut — and nobody selling the scooter has to find that out the hard way. The rider does.
MobilityHubX started because that gap between marketing and Tuesday-afternoon reality kept showing up in the same places: range estimates that assumed flat pavement, weight limits with no real margin, and suspension specs that meant nothing until a scooter actually met a curb.
So we started doing the part nobody else was doing consistently — taking the scooter outside before writing a word about it.
What “tested” actually means here
Three checks every model goes through before it earns a spot in a comparison.
Logged on mixed terrain, not a flat lab floor
We track distance across gravel, inclines, and pavement together, then report what a rider should actually expect on a normal route — not the best-case number from a manufacturer’s controlled test.
Suspension, tire grip, and clearance scored separately
Two scooters can both say “all-terrain” and behave completely differently on a rutted path. We score each factor on its own so the comparison actually means something for where you’ll ride.
Weight capacity margins, stated plainly
A scooter rated for 300 lbs doesn’t perform the same at 295 as it does at 200. We call out real-world margin instead of letting a single number do all the talking.
